Default L.A. Times Front Page Today

MMA made the headline story of the L.A. Times today.

Though much of it is couched in jaded language written by somebody that understands little and appreciates even less the sport of MMA, still, the front page of a major newspaper would have been unthinkable two years ago.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-me-...home-headlines

Unfortunately much of the print and video coverage involves former Boxercise instructor Dana White

Among the bits that caught my eye was that Dana supposedly cut Tito & Shamrock EACH a check for $2 million after their last fight.

$2 million? Anyone wanna buy some prime beachfront property in Minnesota?

Yeah...read that over at T-Nation last night.

I like how Pride is a refuge for horse steroid users.

Oh....and how there are vampires in the UFC...listen to the children of the night, what music they make! Muwahaha!!!!

Man, that's a pretty negative article. It's strange how football, hockey and boxing all do at least as much permanent damage to the body over the course of a career, but because MMA is a little more likely to show blood it's condemned as barbaric.

Before seeing it on Sherdog I was relaxing, reading the paper yesterday at home and saw Sherk on the front page. A definate WTF moment.

In many ways it reminds me of articles in the mainstream on snowboarding, skateboarding and the like. Usually horribly off base and almost never written by someone that gives a shit about getting anything right.

Why must I love sports much maligned?!?! Oh wait... I'm actually proud of that
