Default Genki Sudo Retires

After his fight in K1 this past New Year's Eve Genki-kun announced his retirement. Aside from having some serious back problems this past year he's published a book, released a CD with his band, has been running a clothing line, and working as a model/actor. Like a mini Bob Sapp except with talent:p

Aside from being one of the top fighters out there I love this guy's attitude and style. THE best ring entrances ever, not to mention his in-ring antics.

His latest fight from 12/31/06

After the match he announced that he's retiring to "work with others to make the world a better place." Whatever he meant by that I've no doubt he'll succeed.

Noooo. Damn!

I couldn't agree with you more, Kuri. That is some sad news. I've always been a big Genki Sudo fan. It's hard not to. His entrances have always been the best. His fighting style is unorthodox and entertaining, yet effective. And he's always had such a cool attitude. I hope he does well in his future endeavors but I'm sad that he wont be stepping into the ring or cage again.

He truly has an amazing attitude, its sad he wont be fighting anymore, but it seems like a natural progression for a guy like that.

Thanks for posting that Kuri...I'd only heard the name and never really watched any of his stuff. Excellent.

Great footage of Genki rolling through a sub grappling tourney. The fluidness of his movement reminds me of Bruce Lee, no doubt a large influence on Genki.
