Huges is a wrestler and I wouldnt be suprised at all if he drops a significant amount of weight. I used to look like a rag doll when I got off the scales, and than jacked only 2 hours later. Bout to order it, Go GSP!!!!!! Go Monson!!!!! Break you arm again Doofus!!!!!!

Hughes is retiring to be the new CK undies model.
I heard he drops a good 20 lbs and walks around at about 190. I saw him fight in Extreme Challenge about 8 yrs ago in which the weight class was higher (GREAT fight with Dave Menne btw). Saw him from about 5 feet away and just remember his massive neck. He definitely looked bigger then.
That said GSP has a large frame too and probably drops the same amount of weight.

Nothing can beat the feeling I have for St. Pierre's win tonight. Nothing.
When he Hughes went down after that kick and St. Pierre POUNCED for the definitive follow-up - my arms went up and I just yelled in pure joy! Wow. Just wow.
Yeah, St. Pierre totally owned tonight.

I'm stoked that GSP won. Far more skilled fighter. God, Hughes stand-up is atrocious. I think my grandma could beat him in stand up. GSP's foot work alone was worth watching.

Excellent - I had no sound on that, but it didn't look like those leg kicks caught his crotch? Just good inner thigh kicks? What was the referee call?

Wow what a fight, what a fighter.
Ref called him twice for crouch kicks, but Mcarthy said he understood they where not intentional.
George will make a great champ, lets hope he holds the belt for many years.

Good fight for GSP. He took control of the fight early and never let up. Hughes never looked like he was in it.

Is it just me, or there is no sound from the vid?

It's good to finally see a standup fight with Matt. I think Penn would have been champ if he hadn't seperated his ribs in Matt's last title defense. I think it's obvious after this fight that pure athleticism and good wrestling isn't going to be enough for champions in the UFC. We now have two dynamic fighters as champions (Sylva and Pierre). I'd love to see the Maniac punished by someone with comparable reach. Monson was more of an aggressor in that fight but he was so gassed trying to deal with a torso that was almost as long as he was that he couldn't really compete. Total size mismatch, though I will give Tim some credit for sprawling consistently. Still, the heavyweight division really sucks in my opinion. Maybe that guy they showed at the end -- hardonick or whoever -- will rise and pose a threat. He looked pretty good . . . against a 40 yr old.

I am happy that GSP won. Matt has attitude issues, normally associated with over confidence and arrogance.
The vid quality was horrible though. Anyone got a better one, with sound?

I think Hughes knew he wasn't gonna be able to get the takedown on Georges so there you go. It was like 2006 vs 2001.
GSP's strategy was excellent and his footwork set up some nice combinations. Awesome array of kicks.
You gotta give doofus some credit for surviving with a gassed Monson on the ground. I know he's gotta be hard to train for but still surprised Monson gassed that hard. It's as if he was so afraid to give up a position on the ground he couldn't engage in his game. He normally would have passed a guard like that in 1/2 a second.
Vera was impressive, though Mir didn't look like he wanted to be there from the get go.
