Found these on Hughes blog thought they were kind of interesting. Most interesting was that he's going to start preparing for GSP, but yet I don't think the fight has been scheduled (perhaps February?). Nothing like a lot of hard work.

The fight didn't go exactly like I expected, usually when I can grab somebody's leg I can take them down. I don't think I fought the best fight I could, I made mistakes on my feet and on the ground; but I had my endurance to fall back on. Still I got the fight won.
This week, I'll really do nothing but spend time with the family and start farming. Will take no more than two weeks off before I start training for St. Pierre. -Matt

Do you guys realy think that saying that stuff was GSP's idea? Hell no, that was all Dana White and his WWE mentality. GSP is probably the most respectful MMA fighter on the planet.

BTW, heard that there was some fallout over the GSP-Hughes stuff that was said at the event.....almost a scuffle in the locker rooms or something. I understand that GSP went back to talk to Hughes to tell him that his comments were, in fact, staged but Hughes wasn't going to have any of it.

Dos, have you been reading Dana's posts on Sherdog again?
I hadn't heard about the scuffle. GSP's comments were right outa the McMahon playbook & it's hard to believe Hughes wouldn't get it.

Got some inside info from some UFC people.....
BTW, did you see some of the posts over there calling form Big John McCarthy's resignation for letting Lambert get beat on 'too long'. WTF? People better start watching some Pride fights if they think the UFC lets fights go on too long!

I was under the impression that the referee's were actually commissioned through another organization and that the UFC didn't have a lot of leverage over how the fight is called other than the rules of play. I hope people complaining are sending letters to the UFC rather than John's superiors.
When you go back and look at the Lambert fight, he stopped it in good taste while letting him try to defend himself. His arms were still flailing a bit even while John stopped it.

they are, and the rules are also set by the SAC.
the only thing the org's can do is limit them, like IFL and PRIDE deciding on no elbows.
Oh, I forgot about that. I thought you were kidding. Strange that Hughes would not get the marketing angle since he's always throwing out some lines to hype fights too.
But I do agree that GSP is one of the more respectful people in this sport.
and strong. An MMA trainer at my gym said when GSP grabs you it feels like a vice he's so strong. Like, gear kinda strong.
Yeah I saw that big John thread. What a joke, but what do you expect from that forum.
