Default Pride Bushido 12 on FOX sports TODAY

Pride inked a deal with FOX Sports and will be showing their Pride Bushido events free. I've seen some of the fights already and there are some great ones. All in all a higher talent level than last night's UFC.

Bushido 12 is on tonight at 7pm. check it.

What is it with mutton chops and the Militech camp? We do have barbers out here...jees...

And how embarassing to lose to a guy wearing a pair of yellow spandex tights!

Aoki (the guy in yellow tights) is something else, despite his unfortunate choice in garb.

He's a student of Japanese BJJ legend Yuki Nakai, who was made famous in his fight with Rickson Gracie back in '95 after having his eye gouged in his previous match that SAME night. Nakai lost that eye.

Here's an article on him: http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles.asp?n_id=4814

His attitude reminds me of guys I met in Japan. I can tell you that the average fighter, even guys not competing, are so dedicated. They just train. Period. Everyday. Alot of guys work their normal 9-6 or whatever and just train every single night and weekends. It's rather rare for people to have more than one hobby. In my experience alot of Japanese have one serious interest and sort of develop a lifestyle around it.

I know what you mean. Im part of a Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and im exposed to many visiting Japanese students and i get the same impression. It struck me when I spoke with a guy learning English and the exact approach he used with the grammar rules, so technical. He explained that Japanese will usually approach all things with this type of determination.
Its an important cultural note to be aware of if you plan to learn any budo, i think.

As for Aoki's awsome yellow man tights, Japanese fighters are usually pretty funny I think, good sense of humours (ex: see Guono, the man).

;-)

The explanation I've heard from alot of Jpn guys is something along the lines of "we don't have physical size so we focus on being extremely technical", which is probably true for not only MMA but baseball and other sports.

As for MMA entertainers nobody can hold a candle to Genki Sudo. Not only is he a wizard on the ground but his style is a pleasure to watch.
