So I met Frank Trigg yesterday at a sports bar (guy that was choked out by Hughes. Twice). Another dude asked him honestly who's gonna win tomorrow and Trigg said fuuucck Hughes is gonna kill him.
Couture and Riggs were gonna be there too but I had to take off for a meeting. Damn

What bar was this Kuri? Sounds like a good place to hang out. Hell of a guy to meet. I've kind of grown to like Trigg...didn't like him at first, but he seems like a good guy. Same for Tito...hated his guts, but seeing him in TUF3 has shed a different light on him.
It was a UFC promo event at a sports bar down the street from my place. Trigg came off as a bit of a dick but maybe it's because he's getting his mind right for fighting tonight at the http://www.lasubx.com . But whatever.
I would have really liked to meet Randy Couture but couldn't wait around another hour.
I read Ticketmaster is discounting the UFC tix 30% because sales are so poor... haha poor Dana.
The Staples Center is a 15 minute drive away but I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay $230 for a "cheap" seat.

I read the same thing about the tickets being discounted...poor Dana and Zuffa...I never understood how they could justify the cost. And on top of it they were expecting to break the record for the attendee's...not at those prices.
We watched that "Countdown" special on Spike TV this past weekend. I was screaming at the TV as Hughes' weight training was being shown. Okay....he trains a bodypart a day . And he trains with such piss poor form I was in pain just watching him.
Well, Gracie's form wasn't any better, either - but he had a better demeanor. Matt's is a little pushin' it for the sake of the fans, methinks. The whole, "I TRAIN HARD....EVERY DAY......" (grits teeth; veins appear on neck) bit was becoming a bit.....old.
Ko is thinking Gracie can win this on ground game alone. We just got our DVR installed and will more than likely be payin' for the fight tomorrow. I think it's going to be a good one - that is, if both haven't injured themselves from the weight training. Heh.
Patricia, I was thinking the same thing watching Matt lift but that mofo is just plain strong. I've seen him fight live coupla times in the Extreme Challenge, before he was in the UFC and he was a beast then. Saw him pick up Dave Menne, who's no slouch, and just slam him damn near thru the cage.

Matt hughes was my hero last year, Matt Hughes was my hero three years before that, Matt Hughes is my hero tonight. Every time I see the man do his thing it motivates me beyond belief in every aspect of life.
I know one thing for sure tonight: the two biggest douche bags in the world are working as TV commentators for the UFC. And I'm not talking about Courture (obviously).
As for the fight? Matt Hughes was one lucky sumbitch.

i'm not sure but i think Rogan may be an official member of MFS. he sure loves him some Miletich camp. and Goldy for as long as he's been doing this seems to not be able to learn anything about MMA.

Edit to add:
Ah, I have now discovered something worse to hear other than fingernails being dragged down a blackboard: Rogan (Roggin?) attempting to wax poetic about Gracie's loss tonight.
hahaha... Goldberg kept saying "the sold out Staples Center" when I know ticketmaster was discounting tix & they sold only about 8,000 of a 20,000 cap.
Not only does he know less than nothing about MMA but can't help playing the used car salesman he is.
I think Dana loves him some Diego Sanchez. Was that a bad decision or what?!? Alessio shut him down and opened up Diego's face, and one judge still had it 3 rounds to zero for Sanchez?
Yep, Matt showed Royce whats what. Give it up for Royce's will but he had nothing out there.

First off I'd like to thank JP for giving me the strength to be here today. (seriously what's with all the hallelujahs in the UFC?)
I also wanna thank Rev and Chris D for being in my corner. And of course Xyience and country breakfasts.

oh i gotta watch this now. too bad gracie lost, i had kind of hoped he would win, i dident think he would win, but i hoped :P
just saw it.. embarrasing for Royce.. though i dont know exactly why the judges stopped the fight, i know royce doesnt like fights to be stopped as he can fight for quite some time and take some beating.
I think Dana loves him some Diego Sanchez. Was that a bad decision or what?!? Alessio shut him down and opened up Diego's face, and one judge still had it 3 rounds to zero for Sanchez?
No kidding, what was that crap? Diego wasnt drawing power from the storm or praying to the rain Gods after that fight. The crowd was defiantly vocal about the decision as well. If Dana keeps screwing with outcomes, UFC's rep will plummet. Diego lost that fight, but still they groom him.
I was really pumped for Hughes vs. Gracie. The overall card didn't seem bad, either. Definitely don't feel I got my money's worth, and I hate having to pay anything to Comcast.
I thought Gracie would be more aggressive and be able to work Hughes better once the fight went to the ground. There was no doubt Hughes' game was better, but the fight didn't really need to be stopped at the point it was. Hughes was using the UFC rules about "intelligently defending oneself" to his advantage - very smart.
The rest of the card also turned out to be a bit of a letdown - but that's part of the risk when you buy these PPV packages. Joe Riggs is a complete wuss. Brandon Vera looks like he'll get a title shot soon, maybe late this year or early next. I liked the lightweight fights, especially Fisher-Wiman. Guillard clocked that 4th grade teacher something fierce. Fabiano Scherner needs to retire and go back full-time to whatever he does besides MMA.
This is a kind of crossroads moment for UFC and MMA in the mainstream. In all of MMA, UFC is the most visible organization and the most marketable to U.S. audiences. But the high-level talent pool is way thin, and they can't continue get the PPV and stadium sales with second and third-rate fighters. I don't see myself getting another PPV package this year. UFC 61 is already a joke, except for the title fight.
It'll be interesting to see where UFC goes from here.

So as usual I didn't get this on PPV so if any of you see the fight floating around on youtube.com or google video post up a link so I can watch it. The recap on MMAWeekly basically says that Matt had his way with Gracie. i thought he'd win, but not in such dominating fashion. I guess it just goes to show how much the sport has evolved.
I couldn't believe Riggs got caught like that.... I had more faith in him.
Royce's arm must be hurtin today... if that was anyone else, they'd be tapping out as soon as matt locked on. It was pretty impressive to see Matt control the ground game to that extent.
And in about a month's time.... Arlovski's getting his belt back!
