Alwyn Cosgrove gave me permission to post this excerpt from his ebook, "Secrets of Martial Arts Conditioning," on my web site. I thought I'd share it with you, because, well, it's Christmas!

BTW, the book is highly recommended.

Also, Craig Ballantyne let me put up a couple of interviews on training for mixed martial arts he had in his newsletter. They can be accessed on this page:

Good stuff Chris, thanks (and to AC too of course)

This caught my eye:

Martial arts take place at the limits of the anaerobic threshold -- there is no benefit to doing long slow training of any kind.
Does jogging hold any significant benefits?

Still so many fighters/boxers jog! I trained at the same gym for a bit with UFC fighter Jeremy Jackson and his boxing coach had him jog most mornings.

* I should note I detest long slow runs

I have another question with that..not only for martial arts.. but all sports..

What is the place of conditionning for things that are not necessary at all in our sportbut are good for the general health..?

10% 20% 30% (I have no idea) of our training time?

hum.. it might depend on how much the specific training covers..

well I'll leave the question here anyways..
