Since it's a martial arts web site, I thought it'd be appropriate for this training forum.
It's still very basic, but I'm glad to have it at this point; just thought I'd share.
Gotta add some stuff and get better photos, particularly action shots (tough to get). Also, I want to make the articles/resources section a nice resource on training, fitness & health for both my students and the larger community.
I see that you didn't use Mambo, any specific reason?
When I asked you about that, I already had what you see completed in Frontpage. Before I do any significant upgrading of the site, I might go the Mambo route. I've got to check it out more to see what I'm getting into. It's definitely intriguing and a real consideration.
Cool, well like I said before if you need any help with Mambo feel free to ask (if that's the way you go). My site is still under construction but it's redefinitions.net -- I'm also going to be trying to learn php/sql this summer...
Mambo is an Open Source CMS (Content Management System), which is great if you're making a site that is going to be updates regularly. Mambo has tons of integrateable components and modules that can be running on your website. If you would like to learn more about it you can check out the website www.mamboserver.com.
Hoep that answers your quiestions.
Do you ever come down for the Battle of Indianapolis? If so, let me know. I used to study under Master Young Pi Choi who I believe still organizes it.
Bill
Nope. (I always like when tournaments are called "Battles.")
We pretty much limit our participation to the taekwondo-specific tournaments sponsored by the masters in our network/family of schools in MN, WI, ND, SD, as well as the state & other qualifying tournaments related to junior olympics and olympic qualification.
However, I do occassionally visit IN, though not Indy for a while. I know folks in & have visited Fort Wayne; we know the family of the publisher of the newspapers there; her kids are friends with my daughter from when they lived here.
That pic of the Korean pagoda, might it be from the old imperial grounds in Seoul? I remember some fantastic old structures there with a similar looking mountain backdrop when I visited.
btw, how is the MA scene in the upper midwest these days? Some years ago I participated in an open tournament in Eau Claire just for fun. Are point tourneys still common?

Correct on the picture!
I can't speak too much about the overal MA scene. We are a bit of an exclusive system in that the master's within our family have a series of tournaments thorughtout the year, which are pretty much all invitation-only for schools within our family. Sparring competition is modified USTU (United States Taekwondo Union) style sparring (pretty much the way Taekwondo sparring works in the Olympics), and they also have forms, weapons and breaking competition, of course. We generally don't participate in any of the open tournaments. I've visited some to observe, but that's it.
At least for taekwondo sparring, point style means contact. "Almost touching" doesn't count!
Just to keep some discussion going . . .and maybe you can help me.
I really have not done too much with my web site since I got it up earlier in the year. The main changes are just updating announcements.
If you care to visit my site, I would be happy to take feedback from you. Content, format, whatever. What do you think about what's there? What is good/what do you like? What is not so good/helpful/attractive? What should be included? What features would enhance it? I have thoughts, particularly as it can benefit my students, but it happens that other folks do check out the site when they see the web address in the yellow pages.
Bear in mind I do the site myself and I am not going to get too fancy/complicated, unless I can figure it out myself, which I have somewhat limited time to do. (Unless I can barter lessons for design work by a professional.)
