Default Livin' Large check in

Where's all my big homies at?!? haha, this thread seems to have died out lately. I guess I'll start out with my numbers.

I'm down about 50 lbs since January when I started with TNT. My cholesterol is lot better, and it's about time to buy new clothes (I've already replaced 2 belts, but it's annoying having my jeans all bunched up in the front) I went from size 48 pants to 42, and shirts from a tight 4x to loose 3x, I could probably get away with 2x in shirts, but they are too short.

I've hit a plateau because I'm rehabing a non-training induced shoulder injury, so I'm only doing lower body work now, with very light rotator cuff exercises. I'll give it one more week and try again. If I still have pain, I guess I'll go see the Doc.

Hit me back everyone, how are you doing this Summer?

Great progress, ATM! Congrats!

You should see some of Bill Hartman's stuff on shoulder care. Get a lacrosse ball, a foam roller, and a couple of bands (for rowing motions) and start fixing it right away.

Well, I'm not one you know, but I'll say hello myself. I'm down a little over 65 pounds since December and a little over 115 from my top weight. Sadly I still have a long way to go, but feeling good about the progress. I'm actually doing a maintenance week this week coming, trying to eat at maintenance levels. I suppose the concept is that it should allow me to take a break and my body to recover from being in a deficit. I haven't actually hit a plateau yet, although I suppose that depends on how you define one. I'm hoping that this concept of rest/recovery will help me avoid them.

Oh, and enjoying the summer big time (as we finally seem to have some this week).

Do you have any links for that info, the only thing I found doing a forum search was an interview on how to prevent shoulder injuries. I hurt it by throwing the ball for the dogs with my left (off) arm. They like it when I really wind up and only throw it about 20 ft. It's preventing me from doing any push or press type exercise, and even mowing the lawn hurts.

Hello everyone.

good job on your progress!

I am down 26lbs, from 245 to 219, since January (3 dress sizes, 18 inches and 15% body fat!)

I am hoping to reach my first goal of 165 and 20%BF by December 1st.

Excellent Frog and Realcnd! That is so awesome! Pat your self on the back... You should be very proud of yourselves!

ATM, go to my store and you will see a link for Inside out. That will get you on the right track. Also, I'm sure that Lisa~ can direct you to the proper Bill Hartman articles (I'll PM her about this thread).

Got your pm JP and I'm glad to help. I don't know exactly what information you're looking for, but these thread and articles should help get you on the right track. If you need anything more specific after you've read these, just ask and I'll see what I've got.

I can't say enough good things about the Inside-Out DVD. If you have any shoulder issues, I highly recommend this purchase. Don't be put off by the price. It's worth the money (get the manual, too) and I have not seen this information anywhere else.

Here's some excellent info from Bill on the basic progressions for shoulder rehab: Conflicting Advice: Rotator Cuff.

This thread answered questions after the 2006 Summit. He discusses lots of shoulder and hip issues: JP Fitness Summit 2006 Questions. If you want more along this line, you can buy the 2006 Summit DVDs from JP's store with everything that Bill taught at that event.

And a follow up on shoulders in particular: http://forums.jpfitness.com/showthre...228#post341228. This thread contains a link to another shoulder thread and a link to an article called Push-Ups, Face Pulls, and Shrugs. That's a must read article!

Here's some more good general information: Exercises that shouldn't be done.

And here are two of Bill's blog posts that might interest you: The Thoracic Spine and Shoulder Health and The 15-Minute Rule.

That should keep you busy reading for a while!

I limited this selection to information from Bill Hartman, THE shoulder expert. But Eric Cressey's got a whole lot of very good information on shoulders, too. If you want more, just let me know.

ATM Congrats on the loss and hope you get the shoulder rehabbed soon!

I'm down 67 lbs from my highest point. I'm planning on making it 70 lbs down as of next weekend.

We all do deserve a pat on the back, don't we.

Ummm... ATM, someone should maybe do that for you if the shoulder is too sore.

(I do hope that it doesn't last too long though.)
