LIVIN' LARGE: Minimizing yourself and maximizing your life! When you have over 100 pounds to lose it can seem impossible to get started in the right direction.
What do you guys think of this?? I've been reading the New Rules of Lifting book this week and started the break in workouts. I got to the chapter about cardio and when I read it I was overjoyed
So...according to "the rules" I can weight train 3 times a week and spin (only because it is the only cardio that I truly enjoy) 3 times a week and be good to go?? Maybe throwing a HIIT session outdoors in there once every couple of weeks or so because I do enjoy going and running up this big hill downtown for a workout. Kicks your butt! Just wanted to get some opinions from ya'll....thanks!
Opinions about what? Of course you can lift 3x/week and spin or whatever 3x/week. Not like doing massive amounts of cardio is THE way to lose weight (assuming your goal, of course...)
My Rose:
I FOUND MY NANO!
I "lost" it last week. Now I can actually lift to real muzik again.
Thorn(-ish):
WTF is up with gym music? I mean, every once in a while it's something "ok" but the rest of the time it's crap. And I'm not talking aesthetics... I mean... SLOW and BORING and YAWNY....
The only gym I've been in where this wasn't the case was the tiny bodybuilder gym we had a few years ago... that place had a radio you could change if you wanted... and it was usually good, hard, driving rock. (course they also had a bench chart...)
Anyway, my thorn was having lost my ipod, and therefore having to listen to absolute crap on deadlift day... when I'm pulling 115. ugh.
(but now I'm moving up to the big-boy weights of 125... 35s on each side... so that's good at least.)
Also, no net weight movement. Bastard body.
But the ass is looking better.

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't too much cardio or too repetitive...I'm in the learning stages right now of NOT having to do massive amounts of cardio in order to lose fat.

Considering my husband lost his first 80ish pounds with barely any cardio... I think it's doable.
I like to think of cardio as supplementation. If you do a good lift often enough, and you eat clean and under maintanence, you should do just fine. However, cardio helps you burn a few extra calories here and there, and it helps with conditioning and making sure you can run away from an axe murderer.
I like cardio... to an extent (a rather small one, really). I started losing weight originally with the treadmill (it was all we had at the time) but it wasn't until I started lifting that I started getting a body worth the effort.

Did NROL FL-1 Workout B today. Freakin' Bulgarian Split Squats() got me sucking wind! After I was done I walked out the door ,already on the verge of yakking, chugging what was left of my shake. There was a slimy lump of whey right at the end. Barely held everything in.

Rose: Eats were good this morning for the most part. I ended up getting an egg white omelet at the little shop in the basement of my building only because when I woke up this morning I couldn't handle the thought of eggs in my stomach.
Thorn: Eating was weird/off today. Did not want to eat much in the way of protein. I actually ended up leaving 2 of my meals at work this afternoon because I couldn't handle the idea of eating them today. Ended up leaving work early and coming home. Stomach issues are still rumbling around and I hope they resolve themselves soon. I do not make a good patient.
and in the effort to be kind to myself, I'm off to bed!

Oh believe me, I had to give myself a "1." If only I had skipped that damned Naan Bread! At least I ordered a spinach dish. So maybe I should give myself a 1.5. Then again, none of the Indian dishes seem light except the Tandoori Chicken. Very fatty.
anyone have an Excell spreadsheet for fat Loss 2? mine must be corrupted or something, i emailed it to a diff computer and delete it from the one i wrote it on, then when i tried to open it on other, it gave me some error message, so i sent it back, and it's not recognizing it on the first computer now. i just really don't wanna go through typing it all out again, if anyone's got a file they're willing to share, i'd appreciate it.
All Rosey here, training has been going really well, eating no problems.
Thorn - I weighed my bar last night and found out its only 7.5kg (16.5lbs)
when I had been assuming it was 10kg (22lbs)
So now all my PR's are short by 2.5kg from what I thought.
Life is good, 1st week weigh in -2.8#, it's Friday (which is always good) and I have the Riverwest Beer Run 1.8 miler this Sunday. Plus my Moms therapy from her knee surgery is going well and it looks like she will be able to go back home sometime late next week.
