Nevermind....

Folks if you play with the spread sheet and see that fields are not updating, it's more than likely because that particular field is triggered based on the date.

What fields were not updating? I went through and double checked...maybe I uploaded the wrong version?

The fields that tell how many blocks you have left... because the dates are one of the triggers on those fields, it doesn't update until the computer's date is set to June 1, 2007 (I experimented)

Just for the record. Anywhere I might have forgotten to change the word BLOCKS..it should read POINTS. Despite my liking of the game Tetris..we gots no more blocks here.

Cosmetic Changes.. Blocks to Points. Clarification of weighted versus unweighted points in Nutrition.

RULES v 3.10 for the 1st Annual JPF 61 Day Challenge.

Please read the entire message before replying...

1000 Points are possible in the contest. All participants who last 40 days and/or meet the minimums for each category will receive a T-Shirt.

Nutrition Goal - Adherence to a plan of good nutrition. Note: this should be both healthy and support your goals. When you write out your plan in your log, you should detail what your definition of this will be.

  • 61 Days in 1/2 day increments = 122 un-weighted points
  • A minimum of 80 points should be achieved.
  • For ranking within each category % of goal achieved will be used.
  • For Overall Winner, both % of Goal and Number of points earned will be considered. Determination will be made by a panel of 3 judges.
  • 300 total points are available in this category and will be adjusted to account for 30% of Total Challenge points.
Fitness Goal - You decide number and type of workout per week. These can be Resistance training, Cardio/HIIT, Walking - Dedicated time for exercise and physical activity. Any type of exercise may be used and counted toward your progress. Each type of exercise is weighted for scoring purposes; however all you'll need to record is whether or not you completed a session and/or how many that day.
  • Resistance Training - [multiplier 2.5]
  • Intervals - [multiplier 2.5]
  • SS Cardio/Walking/Group Sports - [multiplier 2.0]
  • For ranking within each category % of goal achieved will be used.
  • For Overall Winner, both % of Goal and Number of points earned will be considered. Determination will be made by a panel of 3 judges.
  • 300 Points are available for all Fitness activity. This is 30% of Total Challenge Points.
Personal Goal - Choose your own adventure. Goals might include weight gain, weight loss, body fat %, spending more time with the family, reading a certain number of books, or anything you can imagine. If you want to gain weight, this may be a number of lbs. If you want to lose weight this may be a waist circumference. If you want to spend time with the family, maybe X number of hours per week or a certain night a week. Consistent effort for 61 days is required. No matter what it is. Achieve it!
  • For setting and reaching your goal, you will earn 300 points, 30% of Total Challenge Points.
  • Personal Goals may be revised 1x during the course of the challenge but the revision must be approved.
Competitive Goal - Participate in a public event such as a weight lifting meet, strongman competition, walk/run/race, etc. during the 61 days of the Challenge. Many events cost minimally to participate.perhaps $10.00 donated to a worthy cause such as Race for the Cure, etc. If you are having trouble with this one, let me know and I will personally help supply entry fees or find you an event in your area that is free. Also, Competitive Goal Challenges are transferrable. This might sound strange; however in some circumstances achieving this may not be possible. If that is the case and someone else who is participating in the Challenge is willing, they may complete an additional (1) Event for you.
  • 1 event is required.
  • You cannot earn double points. Points earned in the participation of this event may not also be counted toward SS Cardio, Intervals, or Resistance Training Sessions.
  • 100 points are possible. This is 10% of Total Challenge Points.
Awards determined by Private Message vote by participants for:
  • "Most Improved"
  • "The Mahler Award for Motivation"
Challenge Awards for:
  • Overall Winner - He/She with the most points / compliance wins.
  • Nutrition
  • Fitness
I already have some great prizes lined up from JP, Leigh P, John Izzo, Alan Aragon, Mike Roussell, Jonathan Fass. While these are not the focus of the Challenge, they are a nice extra at the end.

This thread will be locked on June 1 @ 2359 hrs Central Standard Time.

Before joining, create your Challenge Journal Thread and provide a link in your sign-up message. The links will be compiled and listed in a single thread for everyone to see together. If you already have a log in the Training Log subforum you may continue to use it just keep track of your Challenge plans, goals, progress there. Challenge participants should check in and post their progress at least 1x/week. Monday will be the Official Check In Day. The check=in window will be from Monday to Tuesday at 2359 Hrs Central Standard Time. You are allowed to break this rule 3 times. That being said if an emergency or extenuating circumstances arise, just let us know. More check-ins are better but we understand if you can only check in once per week.

Good Luck Everyone.

Is this challenge in the living large forum because it's only for those with lots of weight to lose?

Events can also be participating in a community or charity walk and the challenge is for any fitness goal you are trying to achieve. We have some participants trying to gain weight (muscle), lose more weight and still others just getting started.

How does one get 300 pts, if 122 points are awarded for the 61 days. Where does the rest come from??

that's answered in another thread. it's for any goals, as weight doesn't come into play for the main goals... just eating, lifting, moving, and getting involved in something.

Its here because this is my little spot on the forum... lol here, I'm kind of a big deal, people know me... I have many books ...lol Seriously Livin' Large isn't just about being large or needing to lose weight. It is a mindset. It means viewing life as one Great Adventure, not wasting a precious moment, learning something new every day, and being thankful for what you have...It is about setting goals and achieving them. It is about helping others.

This is what I am here for. I am sponsoring (with lots of help mind you) the 61 Day Challenge as an opportunity to see the successes in the lives of those who choose to participate. I ask nothing but your time, dedication, and consistency, and the noble contribution of a kind word to someone else...

Newman

You'll notice I said un-weighted points. For simplicity's sake, I kept the number 122 (easy to understand), but I wanted it to have the same weight as the Fitness and Personal Goals. The spreadsheet that Ogedei created gives you a weighted number of points for each 1 or 2 you enter. 1 being 1/2 day of clean eating and 2 being an entire day of clean eating was achieved. The spreadsheet does the rest and calculates the appropriately weighted points to achieve 30% of the challenge in Nutrition.

Good question..

Question

One of the gals on 02 runs a regular challenge (weekly basis) that a lot of others participate in. Could that count towards the competition part???

I'm thinking probably not, but I also know it never hurts to ask either.

I would rather participation be at a public event....in person.... if this falls into that category, great! But otherwise, I would prefer that you sign up to participate in a local or area event and then attend that.

As mentioned, if anyone has any trouble or doesn't want to participate in an event, let me know and we will find someone who is willing to take on another event in your stead. This is about more than going to some silly event.....
