Default Gaining lbs over the holidays...

I frickin work the eve and the day of both holidays and I gained about 5lbs from visiting my mother for 6 hours.

Someone left a bag of honey wheat pretzels. Pretty tasty things.

Ugh!

Sucks that you have to work.

I've certainly put on some holiday blubber. My wife is quite the baker, and she does so with reckless abandon during this time of year. Last year I had no problem saying no, but this year I'm just lucky to be working out, so I'm not going to put any more pressure on myself.

I schedule mini-bulk cycles for the holidays. Big workouts before big eating. I might gain fat, but hopefully, muscle will be added, as well.

Once work gets around on Tuesday, I'll have no trouble keeping the diet in check until New Years (he says to himself, convincingly, on the hope that it will actually be true).

I have been eating holiday cookies and candy for about a week with no conscience whatsoever. I figured I would allow myself to gain about 5 lbs and just work it off after New Years. Kept weighing myself, looking for the gain. Guess what? DROPPED two pounds and hit the target weight I set back in May/June. Go figure. Its not like I was eating at some starvation mode deficit, either. I seem to be getting back the metabolism I had 30 years ago.

Haha, JP... my sister is also an AWESOME holiday baker (I renamed her the baking b**ch two years ago) and guess who I stay with when I visit?
Lucky me, I am not going home to see the fam until next week. Hopefully all the goodies will be long gone, especially the ones with PB... MMMMMmmmmm...

I think simply maintaining, or close, at this time of year deserves a huge self-congratulatory pat on the back. Five pounds is probably mostly bloat from all the crap, Cynic... cut yourself a little slack.

My, I'm getting all Zen-y in my old age. Scary

I only had two family obligations and tried to mostly stay away from the evil stuff at work. STILL, I'm about 8 lbs heavier than before the holidays. I have been swimming a lot and not in the weight room as much - only so much time available for working out - so that may be part of it. All I know is I need to get busy. I guess this happens every year about this time but it always feels scary... don't want to go too far backward!

I had dinner with my mom last night:

Cheesy mashed potatoes, turkey ham, corn, carrots, followed with a chocolate pie with whipped cream. Oy!

Fortunately, I only do that once a month or so.

My mom eats so unhealthy sometimes, I'm surprised she made it to 75.

Oh and the collection of christmas cookies and candy is so great, she has to store them in the oven.
