LIVIN' LARGE: Minimizing yourself and maximizing your life! When you have over 100 pounds to lose it can seem impossible to get started in the right direction.
So here it goes....how much weight have you lost and kept off....
Newman
I haven't got to the "kept off" part yet but I've lost about 50 pounds since January when I got a nasty wake up call about my skyrocketing blood pressure.
I started off not trying to lose weight at all but just trying to improve my diet to get the blood pressure down. (I cut out a lot of sodium and started the DASH diet to lower the blood pressure.) Then I started adding in exercise (but still without a goal to lose weight).
It actually freaked me out quite a bit when I started to lose weight because I was not ready for it, but then gradually losing weight became a conscious goal.
Scale-weight is still not my primary goal since I'd be more than happy to keep adding more muscle, and I care more about how I feel and what I can DO then about what look I have. Still, I'm pretty dam proud of what I've done so far... just got to keep on working.
First, I have to say how inspiring it is to hear all of these stories and stats about people who have done what I need to do. Knowing you're not alone and what you are about to undertake is possible makes the journey a better one!
In total I have now lost about 26lbs...I don't really know where I will stop, but I know I have at least another 80-100 to go! Now that I've found JP, and the women's challenge...it's ON!
Congratulations to everyone on here who is on a weight loss journey.
I started mine in January and have lost 35 (almost 40) pounds to date. I have another 60 at least to go so I'll be checking out these forums to get more ideas and inspiration.
Started at 227lbs-103kg in Feb 2007 (17y/o), after lossing 66lbs-30kg i'm at 161lbs-73kg (Oct 2008).
Thats 0.1lbs lost per day!
Things that did it for me:
cereal for breakfast
only eating at meal times
no going back for seconds, and still having normal sized first plate
no eating desert at home, only when out.
I'm definatly not eating super healthly, just not eating as much.
The first ~20kg were lost from eating better and only doing light exercise. I started walking more and did a bit a casual riding. Started casual running at the beginning of this year and have uped it over the last 3-4months. Still only going out about once a week, twice if i'm not "busy" (lazy) . I can now run distances that i could barely be bothered driving in the past (ok well not quite ).
nice progress everyone!! I will be moving into the 75-100 category by next months challenge weigh in....
Congratulations.

In the end it doesn't matter how fast you do it, just that you do it. Congrats - the pictures show a huge difference!

Fantastic work, and your challenge pics already look great. I should be into the 151-175 category by then (almost there now) but I never did vote in the poll. I think I'm waiting to see where I end up before I do.
I noticed a lot of people mentioning they can't change their vote to update their progress. Can this not be changed by a mod? Has anyone considered a new poll?
Just a thought.
My friend is finding it hard to loss weight due to her slow metabolism... She is finding it hard to control her diet. She is just 24 years old. She want to loss weight weight but she failed to do that. Any tips on how I can help her out?
