LIVIN' LARGE: Minimizing yourself and maximizing your life! When you have over 100 pounds to lose it can seem impossible to get started in the right direction.
I am a 43 year old 5 " 7" woman. I am maintaining a 60 lb weight loss for more than 5 years. I just LOVE the NROL!! I have followed it to the letter for 8 weeks, 4 weeks of break in, now I am in FL 1. I am at the lowest weight in 15 years, and the smallest pants size too. I finally believe I will get to a normal weight, only 7 pounds away now!!
Congratulations. NROL is a great program. Thank you for sharing with us. You'll need to keep us posted on when you reach your goal. Any tips, that you'd like to share with us about your journey?

thanks everyone!! now I am only 4 pounds from goal!! as far as tips, the biggest one for me--freezer meals. I cook on the weekends and freeze in individual gladwares. delicious, homemade food. yummm!!
26-50. About 25 all at once, and smaller, lesser amounts since then.
My problem is that right now I am light enough to get by as looking generally decent for an older American guy, somewhat fit, but certainly not buff by any stretch of the imagination, able to perform well enough in my martial arts. So, the initial motivation I had to drop the initial 25 was really high. Now, I think it's the loss of social eating opportunities that I'm not willing to forsake. I can't get myself to dedicate to get to the next level (that looking more buff, 12% or less bf place).
I'd also lost a chunk of weight as a teen, before gaining weight again in college. Then losing it later in college, but then gaining it again after getting married. It seems I didn't want to permanantly part with that 25-30 pounds. LOL Now I'm parted from it, but the remaining 15 or so to be noticeably leaner is something that's eluding me, probably more mental than physical. Who knows, though: maybe I'd better get my T levels checked.

Good topic.
Even after meeting you, I never would have guessed that you were ever heavy. How would one guess that, I wonder... But, I've always pictured you being as slim as you are.
Maybe it was the smooth and effortless front squats that threw me. And, when you totally pinned Chris (Kuri) to the floor, absolutely destroying a man weighing 50lbs more than you!
I just assumed that you were this naturally athletic type with one of those metabolisms that let's you eat all you want and never gain an ounce. Now, I don't hate you anymore...
Shit, man, I'm the complete opposite of naturally athletic and high metabolism. I guess sticking with the martial arts for 13 plus years does something (even if I was a fat martial artist for a while).
Slim is a kind word. Given how soft I am and my actual body fat percentage, skinny-fat perhaps better applies. LOL
Don't mention that pinning Chris thing around too much. I think it's a sore spot with him.
I have lost 56 lbs over the last couple of years and kept it off. I started regular lifting back in February and have made major progress in recompositioning my body in the last 4 months. Overall I've lost 20.25 inches in the last 4 months.
I just started NROL breakin on Saturday. That is on the schedule for the next 3 weeks.
Way to be Fengshway! Will you be participating in our little 61 Day Challenge? You might have some fun setting some different goals to help you achieve that.

PS Paula....you're making some progress! How do you feel?

I feel good... I actually put all my weights into Fitday this week and noticed a pattern in how I lose. I drop then I gain a bit back... hold on to it for a few weeks and then drop again. I spent a lot of time last night looking at my numbers, and there isn't anything I'm doing other than being consistent in exercise and calorie intake.
One of my most successful clients (and occasional JP Fitness lurker), Rochelle, lost well over 100 pounds throughout the course of our training together. She was actually featured as the lead "Success Story" in the April issue of Shape Magazine
Of course, it would have been nice if they credited me by name in the article, rather than "her trainer"
I just made it to 100lbs this week! And all of my strength numbers are going through the roof. I just got finished with Chad Waterburys Total Body Training and I can't stop looking in the mirror at my new muscles!

New to the forums here - saw this section/thread and thought I'd chime in.
I started my journey lying down, in a hospital bed, being treated for cellulitis in my left leg. My weight then (somewhere around 354 lbs) wasn't helping matters any either. A few days of lying down doing nothing and getting poked by needles gives a body some time to think. I resolved to join a gym when I got out of the hospital, which I did, and signed on for some personal training sessions. I can remember first getting on the elliptical and doing 1 minute 42 seconds before feeling exhausted. And the weights, using machines, tired me out quickly too. And what's more they made me sore... (This IS supposed to be healthy, right?) But I stuck with them, and probably more importantly, the food plan that the gym provided to me (which I still more or less follow to this day).
Fast forward to now, June 07 - I'm around 240 now, lift three times a week, take spinning class twice a week, and fill in a couple of cardio sessions during the week. Here's the results from my last evaluation (done last year at this time and just recently).

Stingo, I would like to second what Og has already said. It is great to have you here and I look forward to your participation in the forums here at JPs. If you are so inclined, set up a training log and join in the fun. Right now we have a 61 Day Challenge going on that ends Aug 1. I don't know what the plans are beyond that for some sort of challenge but I hope other might be interested in continuing.
We have swimming and running forums as well with a lot of great information there. JPs is kind of like a gold mine. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you reach your goals. We have a lot of knowledgeable people here who are willing to help.
If there is anything the Moderator team can do to help you, let us know.
In the mean time, have fun and Rock on!
