JP GO GET THAT SPINE CHECKED OUT!!! And if you feel like your back is hurting go get that checked out also. They should of done Xrays if you feel like that ono your spine regardless or not you still need xrays on them your back is very sensitive and when your nerves start to "redeem" themselves thats when the problem is "shown" I WOULD RATHER BE SAFE then SORRY!!!

JP, I'm glad to hear that you were not seriously injured and that no one else was in the car.
I would defiantly take Chera's advice and get the x-rays especially if you are still having pain.

glad to hear you're ok JP. REST UP and don't push yourself man!!
isn't it funny how so many of these threads get hijacked this goes from a car accident thread to suggestions on what new car to buy. well, wtf, i guess i throw in my 2 cents :
unless the gas rates down there in Arkansas are lower than up here in NJ ($1.76 is the cheapest by me) i wouldn't suggest a SUV cause they can guzzle gas. the town and countrys are nice: lots of space, cool features, etc. so sry about that loss. my mom's got a dodge grand caravan (2000? i think so) and she loves it. it's basically a town and country minus all the extras.
z: as for the EPA cars, i never really understood them completely either. My dad's an OSC with the EPA, was part of the initial 9/11 search and then oversaw the 9/11 clean-up for 10+ month. His branch of region 2 (NJ, NY, CT, and puerto rico/USVI, etc.) have jeeps, suburbans...and station wagons. lol. if u saw some of the pics from some of the sites he's been too, you'd understand why they have the jeeps and the other SUVs. i was like what's with the big cars? then he showed me the pics and i was like, "o. gotcha." like with 9/11, he was parking on rubble (in a Jeep Cherokee) for about a month until they set up a parking lot. kinda hard to do that with a hybrid or small car. it does seem weird to me, tho, that almost all of the work cars are SUVs and Jeeps...and station wagons. I would think that for the sites that have somewhat level parking, they'd have small cars, like the Gulf or a neon or startus or something more fuel efficient, but hey! that's the federal government for ya

Sorry to hear about the accident JP. It was a bad accident. I would thank the stars that got you out of this alright. I am glad your wife and kids were not involved.
I wonder how you can feel sympathetic towards the guy who hit you? But again it's you I would be screaming my lungs out at someone who dare hurt me!!
How much will the guys insurance cover for you?

Hope you're feeling better today. You always hear about it hurting worse a couple of days afterward.

Have to chime in on the "don't leave it at one ER visit"
When Mc was a toddler I was rear-ended by a drunk driver at 8:00 a.m. Luckily she was in a 5 point harness so she wasn't hurt and I didn't see it coming. The officer at the scene said that if I had seen it coming I would have broken both arms most likely. I'd had my new car for 2 days and the damage was enough to total it. Anyway--According to the xrays, nothing was wrong but I was in pain for weeks. I had horrible headaches from grinding my teeth at night. I did some PT and took pills when I wasn't working. What really helped was massage therapy. I was grinding my teeth because the muscles in my neck and upper back were so tense and massages really helped with the tension and the emotional stress. Don't dismiss your pain, I still can't carry a purse on my shoulder for longer than a grocery store trip or I pay for it with nasty pain.

JP-
Glad to know you are ok. Also glad to know it was just you in the van, thus your wife and cute kids are ok!!! Where did it happen? I was looking at the buildings in the background but couldn't tell where they were at. I hope it wasn't close to 630...there always seems to be an accident happening near the on and off ramps on the downtown streets!!!

hey JP,
I'm so glad you're ok and your kids and wife weren't in the car.
i know you liked the mini van but a few years ago my uncle in a pickup truck totaled a minivan (it looked like a can that was crushed on the forehead of a frat guy) when the nanny driving it pulled out infront of him, not paying attention to the traffic. He, and everyone else around him stopped and freaked out cause he didn't hit the minivan going very fast (thank the lord) but the car seats and toys that were in the backseat were visible (barely) and they thought that there were children in the car that had been crushed. i know that i won't get a minivan cause of that alone- he was going maybe 35-40 mph and the whole thing was totalled. thank the lord there was no one else in the car and the nanny walked away with some bruises but nothing else. he hit the van from the rear and it still crunched like that-- i dunno, just something to think about. they're not as safe as everyone imagines.sorry if my sentence structure isnt so wonderful- i'm feeling lousy and can't think right.

Still sore. Bruises are nice and purple. Neck and back still having spasms all day. Got the call from the adjusters today... Van was definitely totalled (as if I needed an expert to tell me that).

Here's to a quick recovery JP. Did you get that massage we talked about on Sunday? You know it'll speed the healing.
