i just had an endoscopic discectomy.. thank god the pain in my leg is gone!! i feel great except for the slight weakness in my lower back which should go away in 3 weeks..
anyway i was advised to not push, pull or lift anything slightly heavier than a box of milk.. for 6 months!!!
my question is.. is there anything i can do to keep me from becoming a weak, skinny(or fat) inactive person? thanks in advance for everyone!

I had two lower back discs removed 12 years ago and although I'm sure my surgery was way more extensive than yours(prehistoric surery)my Dr. prescribed a physio-therapy program(not to mention really good drugs)inorder to keep the muscles from weakening/tightening too much. I would suggest you inquire about that.

Your endoscoptic discectomy was obviously a less intrusive procedure. I couldn't bent to touch my knees for almost 6 months and it took me more than a year to "get back to normal". Of course now I fully realize the importance of Core Strength.

Good luck and speedy recovery!
