Question

Hey guys, I'm on week six of Joel Marion's Training For Maximal Size and I seem to have a bit of shoulder pain in my left shoulder. It seems to have happened after the incline DB bench presses. It started to hurt about halfway through the workout on Tuesday and was a bit more painful the next morning and afternoon. Towards the evening the pain started to subside and today it there is some pain but not as much as yesterday. I haven't worked out since then because I don't want to screw something up, but it does seem to be getting progressively better.

Right now it mainly hurts when i extend my arms fully overhead pretty much a bit behing and above the front deltoid. Lateral raises also cause a little bit of pain as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if more info is needed, let me know.

Lastly, a question for Bill...I was wondering if you could recommend any good reading sources for shoulder problems and other sports injuries? Thanks much!

It certainly sounds like you're impinging. Basically, your rotator cuff isn't strong enough to counteract the pull of the deltoid and your cuff or bursae are getting pinched.

No pressing until you get your cuff in shape.
