I'm a 4 year Marine Corps veteran with a really bad knee problem. The VA doc's are suggesting a full knee replacement since nothing else has worked since I hurt it back in 2001. Since I can't run I was wondering what are the best things to do to keep my weight down (its starting to creep up to heights unknown), reduce body fat, and increase strength. Size and being cut aren't a big concern to me, basically just want to look trimmer and stay healthy. And lastly, does anyone have any experience with full knee replacements and what my mobility will be like when/if I get it done?

Hopefully, Bill will jump in. He'd definitely be your best source of info. Since I'm here now, how about a bike? How does your knee feel on the bike? Swimming would be an option but I have my doubts about fat loss from swimming alone.

That's not much help, I know, but I have problems with my knees and a stationary bike is what I use a lot. Just be sure to do an interval program, not steady state. If you aren't familiar with that, check the SEARCH function because they've been discussed a bunch! BEST OF LUCK to you with the possible knee replacement... hope you can avoid it!!!
