A little background for those who don't know. I have been in multiple car wrecks that have left me with 5 hernaited disc in my back and neck and also a pinched nerve in the ball of my neck. I also have tendonitis in my left shoulder. I have done HGM and some of the greatest workout ever. I didn't really look forward to coming home to workout like I did with HGM so instead of doing GWOE I switched to Ripped Rugged and Dense 2.0 which I really like. Here is the thing I will have a really strong couple of workouts, set new personal best but then a couple of workouts later I will tweak something in my back and will not be able to workout (or do much of anything else for that matter) for like two weeks. So it seems like everytime I hit a new personal best the following workout or the one after I end up hurting my self. Does anybody have any suggestions to overcome this? It is making me gun shy if you know what I mean. Like in the back of my mind I am thinking if I deadlift 315 (for 5 reps) today what happens when I do 320 next workout an I going to throw my back out? It just seems like I take two steps forward then hurt myself and have to take three steps back. I am thinking maybe I should go back to physical therapy or something. I have already gone for 6 months and it really didn't help any not even my range of motion that I could tell. Please help me if you can I am getting a little discouraged. Thanks guys.

A few questions...

Do you have periods of time when you are asymptomatic?

Are you really training at the intensity levels you mention (315 x 5 for deadlifts)?

Have you had any manual treatment to your shoulder, neck, or back? If so, what kind?

Describe your back and neck symptoms when they are aggrevated?

What exercises bother your shoulder?

Hang in there

Bill

Not really any good times to report just some days are worse than others. Yes those are the correct numbers + or - on good or bad days. I went to PT for about 6 months which seemed to help for a couple of days but then back to hurting again. I have had about 6 blocks in my back and 2 in my neck. I also have a TSN's unit ( I think that is what they are called) that has the stick pads and sends electrical current to stimulate the muscles surrounding my trouble spots. I also have gone to the chiro and a massage therapist about 15 times a piece. Symptoms are stiffness in the neck and back, very limited range of motion, a dull aching pain and if a twist a certain way a shooting pain that goes down my leg sometimes. The only exercises that bother my shoulder are lat raises, dips, and shrugs. Bench press hurts every now and then. Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks for you help. Please reply to my thread in the fitness forum titled "Went to the chiro today bad news" if you have anything to add to that post. Thanks for the help Bill. It really means a lot to me.
