hi.. im new hear, so i dont know how things go in this forum.. im hoping that someone here can help me..

ive recently suffered from a slipped disc.. particularly on the L4 - L5 disc.. ive been feeling a huge amount of pain from my lower back and radiates to the left leg as a manifestation of the injury.. my doctor prescribed medications and suggested i undergo physical therapy.. he also said that their is a 70% chance that i will undergo surgery..

my question is.. has anybody here had a disc injury before and does working on my upper body worsen my injury? or will strengthening abs and the lower back help? is it possible that the herniated disc will slip back in with proper treatment?

thnx to all who can help me..

A trial of Physical Therapy is definitely worth it, IMO. I don't think that the likelihood of needing surgery is quite that high. A lot of folks will do well with PT and not need an operation.

I would discuss this issue with your therapist to come up with a more customised plan to address your areas of weakness.
