Exclamation

It's so hard for me to detach myself from some heavy lifting for just a week. I need to though due to a minor injury in my shoulder and some sort of injury or problem with my forearms. The thing is I am training for a d-1 baseball team next fall and I am still trying to bulk to around 163-165. I want to get the bulking over with so I can really focus mainly on baseball...For any baseball players here who lift I am sure they know how difficult it is to recover fast enough from the lifting and from playing. Now I think it is best if I take this week off just to regain normal function throughout my body(i have been lifting very hard, high intensity, lots of poundage). Should I take a complete week off from everything all together excpet diet of course, or should I work on isometrics, ab work, leg work etc.?

idk about you, but i could never take a week off from all exercise completely. i would probably do some HIIT maybe and then maybe some core work. i would probably then go on a nice long slow paced jog after this stuff to help the circulation. it's not anything major, just to get the blood flowing like the pitchers do. i'd probably still be throwing, maybe some easy long toss to keep the arm progressing but not before warming up at short distances and gradually working your way back.

i'd probably do the core/HITT stuff 2x a week. but, i'm no expert-that's just what i'd probably do in that situation.

btw, what team r u training for? just curious

theres my 10 cents my 2 cents is free

thanks man, yeah I basically was going to do sprints and core work and some work on forearms, and calves...not sure about lower back though...Im trying out for SUNY Albany(new york)...They don't compete with schools like arizona or texas but they play against stoneybrook, northeastern, hartford, maine, vermont, and i think a team in north carolina...its called the america east league. plenty of major league scouts at the games and it is definetley competitive.

I sent you a private message. I'm a former SUNY Albany Baseball player and graduate. I can help you prepare but you need to contact me because the advice you are getting is clinically and practically incorrect. You'd be surprise how close the level of competition is to the big boys. Contact me asap so I can get you started. I can talk to coach mueller and coach Lavenia and get a scouting report on you so we can work on your weaknesses.
