I wish I could say for sure which it is, I think its the top of my glutes but hard to say, it basically feels right between the two, sort of around the top of the hip bone, but pain can radiate down the leg.
Basically I came back from a small break and kept at my previous weight deadlifting. It felt fine doing them, maybe a little sore but nothing that felt worrisome, but got quite sore afterwards, the next couple of days I had trouble bending and hurt in almost any position (Standing, sitting, lieing down). Got less and less sore though and I thought it was just nasty DOMS, in fact spent the weekend fencing and stuff with no ill effects. On Friday though I did deadlifts again, went up in weight, and only got 3 sets out. Now its a lot more sore.
I guess it mainly hurts bending. Good posture helps (slouching in my chair hurts more than sitting upright). Stretching I feel it when I lie down and pull my right leg accross my body the most, but also when I do the one where I lie on my face down with my right leg bent under me with my foot under my left thigh and lean foward.
I dont know if I've injured something, or if it is just bad DOMS, or what, but it seems pushing through isnt doing the right thing . I dont want to take another break, but perhaps I need to leave lower body alone for a while (I didnt squat this morning, but the other day I seemed to get through ok (that was before rehurting it though). Should I be icing? Heating? Resting? Stretching? Should I see someone?
Any idea if its form related, or just lifted a bit heavy (it felt within my bounds, I got 5x5 done the first time and when I put the weight back up I got 3x5 before deciding to stop). I've pretty much self taught myself the deadlift and the weights been going up constantly since I started, I felt I was doing really well at it .
Oh, warmup I normally just do 1-2 mins on the elyptical trainer to warm the body temperature up a bit, then do 6x40%, 4x80%, 2x90% of my 5x5 weight (with just enough rest to reload the bar).
