About 8 weeks ago, a terrible pain set in while I was running in my lower right abdomen. I thought it was an appendicitis attack because it came on suddenly and was so sharp. However, as it didn't get worse, I didn't go to a doctor. The pain did continue, however, for about two weeks, and seemed to be exacerbated by working out. I finally saw a doctor. She checked for a hernia and did blood and urine work to check for liver/kidney issues. In the meantime, she said it was likely that it was just a pulled muscle. I took two weeks off, and the pain remained. In the intervening weeks, I've been checked twice more for hernias, had a CT Scan and a sonogram that revealed nothing, and I'm scheduled for a bone scan tomorrow. I've also seen an acupuncturist who has helped me with previous problems, and plan on visiting him again. But, as with most docs, mine doesn't seem too proactive. I've had to push to get every test done, and it'll be two weeks before I know about the bone scan. In the meantime, I haven't worked out in six weeks plus, and I'm going insane.
What I'm hoping for is some brainstorming as to potential sources of the problem, particularly skeletomuscular, as the docs say they're ruling out any probs. with my organs (though they never did see my appendix on the CT or the sonogram). Anyone heard of similar symptoms or have experience? I want to know how to go about getting this problem resolved soon...also, advice on possible exercise I can do? Running definitely hurts. Maybe cycling? What weightlifting exercises could I safely attempt?
