I have a client who has hyper-mobile shoulders. He has problems with his left shoulder and the last time he weight trainied his neck went out doing lat pull downs causing him headache. What is reccomended for this situation. I'm going to have him doing shortened ROM on chest press, and scapula retraction. Shrugs, and rotator cuff work too.

Any ideas on what else I can do with him? He's a 6foot 6, 25year old, ex volleyball player. Needs some serious strength.

1) I'm not sure what you mean by hypermobile shoulders. What leads you believe they're hypermobile and could you be more specific with this left shoulder problem?

2) What do you mean by, "his neck went out"?

Please use anatomical references if possible =)

The simple answer is to send him to someone who knows what to do in this situation if you don't. Attempting to "fix" it could make him worse. It also provides you with a referral opportunity to grow your business and network. (Free business advice too!)

Hypermobile means he has too much flexibility in his shoulders. He as touch the back of his hands together behind his back. It's not too uncommon, these people are prone to dislocations.
His thoracic spine is also hyper mobile.

One of his cervical vertabre went out of alignment and was causing him headaches. His chiro had done some work on his neck a few days earlier.

Sounds like a complicated case with a possible underlying medical issue. I agree with Bill.
