I have an injury and I know I should see a doctor....but I can't. I'm
currently in a situation with my car (it's broken, I need a new one) and I
can't afford to pay for numerous sessions of rehab and doctors visits. I
have health insurance but my current finances will not allow me to consult a
doctor. The pain is getting worse and I am currently unable to work-out. I
would GREATLY appreciate ANY advice ANYONE has for me. I'm thinking I
should most likely work my rotator cuff for the next couple weeks, but I'd
like to hear what you guys have to say first.
Being extremely uneducated on muscles and skeletal structure, this is going
to be hard for me to explain without visuals. Here's my best attempt.
I'll try to explain some basic movements and let you know what really
bothers me.
My upper arm and shoulder is really bothering me, not my bicep or tricep,
but the area above and between those muscles, all the way up to the top of
my shoulder. The pain is some what of a pinching pain. It's not a constant
irritation, it really bothers me when I raise my arm.
Let me explain, if I'm standing straight with my arms flat to my side I have
no pain, if I begin to raise my arms (forming a T with my body) the pain
starts once I've lifted my arms about halfway up. It's extremely hard for
me to form the T. Once the T is formed, the pain is minimal, I then try to
rotate the arms in a circular motion. The upper half of the rotations
REALLY hurt, I do not have pain on the lower half of the circles.
This is the second occurrence of this pain. The first time it was only my
right shoulder. I did some research and decided that it was caused from
doing overhead shoulder presses until failure. I took a week of and
everything was back to normal. I did my first workout on Saturday and the
pain has returned to both shoulders and it's MUCH more intense.
Below is my Saturdays work-out:
Bench Press 5 x 5
Deadlifts 5 x 5
Forearm Curls 3 x 10
Shoulder Shrugs 3 x 10
Upright Rows 3 x 10
Overhead Shoulder Press 3 x 8 (I used light weight)
Pull-ups 3 sets to failure
Chin-ups 3 sets to failure
Lunges 3 x 12
My specs:
23 yrs.
164 lbs.
5' 11"
Long limbs
I've been out of shape all of my life!
Like I said before, I should see a doctor but I can't afford it, also, I
REALLY appreciate any and all help and/or suggestions.
I enjoy working out and it's way for me to relieve stress and get away from
my two jobs. I've really gotten into working out and do not want to lose my
ability to continue to succeed and make gains.
Feel free to ask any questions, because I'm sure I left plenty out.
Thanks,
Stinson
