My first official weightlifting injury! It only took 5 months! I'm not sure if I shoud be proud...

Scenario: Leg press machine. Apparently, I misjudged how tired my legs were. Lowered the weight and it pushed my knees closer to my chest than normal. The angle of the push made my butt slide out from under me (forward) about an inch. I felt a *pop* in my lower back coinciding with a sharp pain. I pushed the weight up and got off the machine.

Since then: Periodic stretching, ibuprofen. Lower back is weak, stiff and hurts a bit. Wife (physical therapist) thinks I might have rotated a vertebrae.

Any suggestions?

Not sure what to say other than...This is why I don't leg press anymore and stick to different squats and stances. I too hurt my back about 1.5 years ago and it sucked. Took a long time to fix as you use it all the time while lifting.

And no, you shoudn't be proud. Your injury could have been prevented with a little caution...

Live and learn.

Yeah, the "proud" part was sarcasm. It was a stupid injury. I normally try to be very deliberate with the weights and make sure I'm controlling the weight in the negative phase. Like I said, I guess just misjudged my own fatigue and now I'm paying for it.
