I followed Mahler from MH, after only being on line one week. Based in Istanbul,Turkey, I am 8 hours ahead of the pack, so bear with me.

Question:

Been back in the gym after a 6 month layoff, and back for about 3 months now. Coming along pretty good, and back down to fighting weight.I have been experiencing soreness (tollerable but wont go away) on the inside bone of my elbows. I am doing about 5 excersizes on tris, and 4 on biceps alternative days.Adjusted workout to keep fresh, and preacher curls seem to affect the soreness the most.Gym manager says, it will subside, it is friction. Doesnt stop the workout, but dont need any damage at my ripe young age... comments would be great. My local gym is a postage stamp, compared to the USA Gyms, but suitable, and not a lot of advice on this side of the pond is available.
Thanks

Bill will probably give you some good scientific and practical advice, but I'll chime in ahead of him anyway I've had this particular pain several times.

1. Take a week off if you haven't in the last 8-12.
2. Stop isolating the small muscles (biceps and triceps) for at least a month. Concentrate on the larger ones (chest and back) by doing bench presses, dips (feet back - leaning forward), pullups, bent rows, etc.
3. See a doctor if it doesn't subside after the previous two steps.

My guess is that it's connective tissue not growing as fast as the muscles in your arms (well known fact that muscle grows faster) and is therefore under strain and causing pain.. When I've had it, I've done the above and been just fine. I usually take 6-12 weeks off of isolation exercises and then I can come back just fine. You'll have to figure out what works for you.

Update on me ole, elbows. Pain is nearly all gone, , took a week off, and have adjusted workout. I have found that Bar excercices ie, preachers and Tri work with z bar, as well as cable machine using a bar, pull pain out of the elbows( Yeh I stop) but using Barbells instead of a BAR, no pain....!!!!!!!!!!
stickeing with the bells for a while lightly, working the core as suggested by Dan,
go figure... what say you!!!!
