Over the last few years I've had sporadic pain that hits tha area from the small of my back down to the top part of the back of my leg. It happens on both sides/legs although not at the same time. It makes it painful to get up and to walk. I'll ice it and take pain killers but nothing seems to help.

Like I said it's been happening for years and I've not noticed any kinds of activity which might cause the pain.

Anyone have any hints? ideas?

See a Doc to rule out anything serious. Sounds what I had/have which is a weak TVA. Do you run a lot?? Some runners experience the same thing. For me, some core exercises and stretching the hams and glutes worked. There are some good breathing exercises that might help. Go to ex/rx.net for the stretches. Sorry it's the only link I have at the moment. Someone else here may help.

I went to the MD a couple of years ago and he was minimal help, told me a stretch or two but not much else.

I don't run (unless someone is chasing me) but my hamstrings are a bit under developed. It's strange to me that the pain occurs on irregular basis and is not tied to an activity (I can identify)

I'll try the exercises and stretches on you link. I appreciate the response.

Mucho thanks

Found this browsing around yesterday, dunno if it applies to your problem or not, but worth reading I'd say:
