Bill,

I have been considering having ART done on my chronic golfers elbows, but as the nearest place that I can find is over 2 hours away, I was wondering what kind of success rates, number of treatments, and lasting effects to expect.

About six years ago I developed it, I suspect due to way to much direct bicep work. 4 years ago I dropped direct bicep work except for 2 4week periods a year. It still flares up occasionally after doing heavy or high volume pull-ups and especially during softball season from throwing.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jesse

Depending on the chronicity, it takes about 1-6 treatments along with some home exercises to make some impact. If you've had it as long as you say, there's certainly no guarantees.

Another technique you may want to look into is ASTM (Augmented Soft tissue mobilization) or Graston Technique (there's info online). When ART has not completed the job, this technique has come through quite frequently.

You will most likely need to do some eccentric loading. bryanc has a post on here about tennis elbow rehab that is terrific. You just need to modify the exercise to focus on the the common flexor tendon on the inside of the elbow (wrist flexion rather than wrist extension).

Also, search online for an ulnar nerve stretch or wrist flexor stretch to start to load the tendon a little. If you can't find one, let me know. I may have a photo, but I don't have time to look for it right now.

Hope that helps.
