So far, my recovery is coming along very nicely. I have almost no pain during the day and my ROM 100%, although it's not totally painfree yet. But, the pain that I do have in full ROM is easily bareable, not like before the surgery, or even this time after the first surgery. Currently, I'm only doing stretching exercises 2x daily. I'll stand in the shower for about 10 minutes and let piping hot water wash over my shoulder, then do my exercises, and sometimes I'll ice my shoulder down afterwards. I only use the ice when the exercises are unusually painful, which is happening less and less. I'm also taking 2 Aleve 2x daily for inflammation.
Sleeping is a completely different matter, though. I can normally fall asleep before my shoulder starts to ache. When I move during the night and aggravate the shoulder, I normally wake up. It takes me a little while then to get comfortable enough to fall back to sleep. This happens about 2-3 times every night. I've found that as long as I sleep with three pillows: one supporting my upper shoulders, one placed on top of that pillow for my head and the last pillow wedged under my left shoulder only that I have everything in a decent position to avoid any pain. Trust me, it's a balancing act!!!
As far as strengthening goes, I'm only going to do those exercises that I outlined in the other thread. I'm not going to do any other strength training for my shoulders. I believe I can do some back work, biceps, very light triceps and definitely legs and abs. I'll most likely have to avoid chest and definitely shoulder work for the time being until I'm painfree. Even then, I'm probably not going to do any overhead movements for a long time, if ever again.
A lot of what you can do depends on your pain. If a move hurts, don't do it. Also, be very careful with increasing weights too fast. It will take time for the joint and tissue to recover.
