So anyways I started training on my road bike.I rode for 9 hours over a 3 day span. Here's the thing, I don't usually wear gloves and haven't got around to buying them yet. Yesterday I noticed there is pain in the thumb region like right below it.I think the median nerve is affected. How long will it take to heal and what's the treatment. Thanks and I'am going to buy some gloves now.

P.S.. I tend to ride with my hands on the hood of my brakes.

It's possible that you've just stretched the ligamentous structures of the MCP joint or compressed some soft-tissue like the thenar muscles/tendons. If you wake in the middle of the night with pain or experience some numbness or tingling in the median nerve distribution, then I would lean in the direction of the nerve being part of the problem.

Adjust your riding style, get some gloves, and then see how it goes.

If it continues to bother you there are some stretches that may help and/or some ART works well.
