I turned on an NBA game in lieu of whatever awards show is on tonight. The announcer was saying that Michael Olowokandi, of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has to undergo five hours of rolfing because his thigh(s) is very tight... something to do with adhesion of the muscle fibers. Does that sound right? Is rolfing a standard practice? Would this problem be a good candidate for ART? Lastly, what's the difference?

Rolfing is another form of deep soft-tissue work. It's a pretty common form of treatment with specialized trainer to become a "Rolfer".

As with any form of soft-tissue treatment it will have similarities to other forms of manual techniques.

ART may be an alternative as would trigger point therapy, NMR, or any other form of soft-tissue treatment.
