I swear, I just don't seem to get a break. Let's hope that this one isn't so bad. I have been dealing with a growing pain in my left ankle joint ever since the race in October, but it didn't always bug me so I didn't pay much attention. It hurts close to the top of my foot, and it only hurts when I point my toe, or if I push off in that position, like going up stairs. It doesn't hurt in the entire range of motion... only close to fully extended. I have been doing a lot more cardio lately to prepare for my race in April. I had been thinking about running a marathon next month too, but this has me really worried now. It doesn't hurt during activity, like when I ride my bike or ride the ellipticle, nor does it hurt once I am warmed up running the stairs, which I have worked up to running them twice (total of 82 floors up and down).
So I can almost hear your advice already, which will undoubtedly involve sticking my entire foot in a bucket of ice water. I have yet to do that so I guess I will start with it tomorrow. How long should I do this? Also, would an ankle brace be helpful? Or would you suggest amputation so I can just be done with it?
Come on Bill, lay your healing hands on my ankle and scream "HEAL!" at the top of your lungs.
