Default pat-ellofemoral syndrome

I have pat-ellofemoral syndrome and find doing the squats with any weight at all painful. I am able to do a partial squat with my feet turned outward. Any suggestions to an alternative to doing a squat?

I have this also and find a good warmup and walking beforehand helps me. Sam-e seems to help me too. Try exercises that strengthen your quadriceps and hamstring & calf stretching. My son says its sounds like bubble wrap popping when I exercise sometimes. lol

Yes, what kind of doc. What specialty? Were there any diagnostic tests run?

It was at the Mayo Clinic where I was diagnosed with Fibrymyalgia. I think it was the orthopedics docs who diagnosed this-you see so many different docs there. And yes, many different testing was done.
