Default when can I work out again?

I'm pretty sure I strained a groin muscle doing phase I (final week)lunges on Tuesday. I started hurting late Wednesday morning- to the point where I could not use the muscle to lift my leg, but was fine sitting or standing. It's funny how you realize how important certain muscles really are when you don't have use of them anymore.

I had my craniosacral therapist work on it today, spent an hour in the hyperbaric chamber and have ice on it now.

We are leaving for Disneyworld with the kids on Wednesday - I really need to be able to walk well by then. Has anyone had a similar injury? I have no idea how long this will take to heal.

And then after my trip, when can I start working out again? Should I still do lunges? Or just really drop the weight down (was doing 60 pounds).

This is my first non-knee or foot injury - new teritory for me. any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Groin injuries can take a while to heal. And are also usually a sign that something else is not working properly. I suspect glutes given your mechanism of injury.

How is it feeling now?

I was feeling much better on Friday (injured Tuesday - felt is Wednesday) and found my self running up the stairs as usual by Saturday. Yesterday (Monday) I rode a bike for 20 minutes and I could feel it was still sore. I hoping I can make it a week at Disney!
My glutes are often very tight on the top, they could be part of the problem. What could not be working properly?

Your glutes are likely not firing properly.
Google "lazy glutes" or "gluteal amnesia".
You'll also find lots of info on this subforum.
