COQ, not sure if we've had this discussion before ... but the location of pain does not always point to the area of dysfunction. If you try ART again for your shoulders and it does not relieve your shoulder pain, then perhaps your shoulder pain is referred from somewhere else ... like your neck.

Thanks for the response, Julie. Always good to hear from you.

I had my first Graston/ART treatment today. Pain was tolerable. Hopefully, it will help. I noticed some issues with stability/proprioception in PT today, which is a little disconcerting.

With regard to the referred pain - who might I speak to about that? Would that be M.D., chiropractic, or PT territory?

Thanks again.

PS - Bilateral MRI taken in January shows inflammation of supraspinitus and biceps tendon. Is deep-tissue work the appropriate route for this condition?

A good PT would be able to discern the source of your pain.

Deep tissue work is appropriate for chronic inflammation ... the question is, what is causing it?

Thanks for the response, Julie.

I have no idea what is causing the chronic inflammation; different health providers seem to offer different theories. I'm finally getting in with a highly-competent PT on Monday, though, so hopefully he'll be able to provide some insight.

The Graston/ART was certainly uncomfortable, but I guess I'll stick with it for at least four sessions. Interestingly, the shoulder that has more pain seemed to have less scar tissue/adhesions. Any idea why that might be?

Thanks again.
