Default I think I hurt my quad?

So, yesterday at the end of my workout, it felt like I tore/pulled the muscle in my upper right thigh. I am thinking quad muscle? anyway, it's the lower end of that . . basically above the top of the knee.

It was NOT a subtle pain, it was a bad 'oh crap, what did I do?' pain, so I instantly stopped lunges. I went go on to do the swiss ball crunches, but even then I noticed the pain a bit.

What is odd (to me) is that it isn't hurting at all during normal movement. I can walk, twist, even bend and it doesn't really hurt, but when I go back into the lunge position, I get that sharp tear-feeling pain.

Does that make any sense? If so, what could it be? And does this limit my lifting at all? (I feel like I could still deadlift . . .)

Is the pain when lunging on the leading/front leg or on the rear leg?

I've learned the hard way that as soon as you feel something give STOP.

I've also learned the hard way to NEVER work out on an injured body part.

If you have to take a week or two off, my advice is do it. In the long run it's better than injuring yourself further and having to take off a couple of months.
