Sarcoidosis Question for Lisa
Hi Lisa,
I am a certified personal trainer and have asked you a question or two in the past and was wondering if I might ask you another now.
I have a client who was diagnosed with sarcoidosis several years ago and was getting nowhere with her therapists during rehabilitation after her cancer went into remission. No feeling in her feet or lower extremeties had left her unable to walk without aids and she was frustrated with her post- cancer therapists. Eight months ago, she began training sessions with me, and we have since recovered feeling in the soles of both her feet as well as sensation up to both of her knees. She also is able to walk unaided now and even goes up and down steps as well as a three times weekly visit to the golf driving range. She was unable to feel needle tests until she re-habbed with me, but now I have a question for you. This past week she began experiencing uncontrollable muscle spasms in her legs and is now getting a tingling that is eerily similar to that which she experienced before her diagnosis.
My question to you is this... since she has an appointment with her neurologist later this week, is there anything that you can think of (other than meds) that might help alleviate her spasms and tingling in the meantime? Two hours of sleep a night is simply unacceptable to her.
Any ideas you might have would be most welcome.
Thank you so very much,
Billy Tobias, A.C.S.M., C.S.C.S.
