Default Hip injury

1. When did the pain begin?
Two Mondays ago

2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time?
I was coming out of the bottom of a squat when my hip cracked very loudly. It wasn't necessarily painful, so I actually checked to make sure that the noise wasn't the sound of my boxers tearing.

3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?
I'm not great with anatomy, but it seems like it is either my psoas or iliacus. If you touch on the front of your body the pointiest part of your hip, then move your finger approximately 2 inches toward the center of your body and then 2 inches down toward your feet, that's basically where it now hurts.

4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting?
When i jam a finger into it, it's a sharp pain. If I've aggravated it recently (like today), it's a dull pain even when I'm not touching it.

5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions?
It's only a sharp pain on certain motions. Like I said, if I've aggravated it recently, it's dull throughout the day, no matter what motion I do.

6. What motions make your pain worse?
The bottom of the squat, knees pointed out...starting strength style.

7. What, if anything, makes your pain better?
I lay on my side on my hip on a lacrosse ball, which helps. However, I find it difficult to place the lacrosse ball on the area where it hurts. Due to the location on the front of my body, I can't seem to position myself such that I can apply a lot of pressure with the ball. I try to stretch my IT band. I roll my legs on a PVC pipe. Butterfly stretches seem to help, too. Also, not sitting all day helps.

8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body?
Right now it seems like the pain is in my groin, but when I dig into that area with my finger that doesn't hurt. Also, there is a dull pain in the following area: touch the pointy part of your hip, move your finger around back of you so that you're touching basically your side and the top/side of your butt.

9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury?
Squat

10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences?
I've been rolling on the pvc pipe, stretching (maybe I'm not stretching enough, or maybe I'm sitting too much), taking fish oil, and laying off squatting, and it doesn't seem to be returning to normal. And, it's been almost two weeks with the same amount of pain, i.e. not worse/not better. Also, I love squatting and I'm depressed when I don't get to do it.

11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?
Nope

12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period?
It hurt a lot the next 2 days after I initially injured it, but after that it's been pretty much the same. It hurts more now, because I aggravated the injury today.

I did some more searching, and it seems that I actually injured my sartorius. I'm still not sure how to help this injury, and it's not getting any better.
