groin pain
1. When did the pain begin?
about three months ago
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time? The pain came gradually during a period when I was sitting down a lot for work. The seat in my car was also broken at the time and I had to hold my body forward while driving. I have a manual car and drive in a lot of stop and start traffic daily.
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?
In the groin area.
4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting? Sharp stabbing pain
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions? Intermittent or only caused by certain movements. I have to be careful climbing big stairs or sitting down for a long time.
6. What motions make your pain worse?
Hip flexion, hip abduction, lateral rotation of the hip
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better?
rest
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body?
no
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury?
I can't move around confidently. Can't change directions quickly when running (play sports).
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences? I don't want to be like this forever. Maybe I'm becoming an old man.
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?
Yes, on the other side, but only mildly. I think it came from tapping my foot too much. I'm a professional musician.
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period? It's reached this point and though it occurred gradually seems to be staying the same now.
I'm posting this for my husband. He used to run on a regular basis but hasn't since this injury occurred. I'm a massage therapist. From the ROM tests I did on him I think it's illiopsoas tendonitis. I've been doing some work on his psoas but not as much as I should and I've given him some stretches to do which he does several times a day, but he hasn't seen any improvement. I was just wondering if anyone else has any ideas about what it is.
