Default Knee Problems

I got tendonitis years ago in my right knee. About 8 weeks ago I started training very hard. One day I went balls out and didn't ice my knee. The pain returned, it was a discomfort around my knee cap. No sharp pain, but I definitely went easy on the leg when moving around.

After that I iced my knee after every work out and took 800mgs of ibuprofen. I totally excluded running and leg workouts. The only cardio I could do without feeling pain was swimming. The pain I originally felt completely went away after a couple weeks but I still feel soreness / stiffness around the knee.

I haven't been doing any endurance or HIIT running, but I've played tennis recently while wearing a brace and icing after. It feels more like the bone is bruised than the tendon acting up. At this very moment I can do all forms of cardio without feeling noticable pain. I feel discomfort more than anything, but nothing that makes me cringe. The part of my knee that feels the sorest is directly on the outside part of the knee.

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Honestly, you probably have some biomechanical issues that keep this particular injury popping up. Check out Mike Robertson's "Bulletproof Knees". Should help address most if not all of your problems.
