Default Right thumb injury

Hi,

My right thumb feels pain when I press on the bony protrusion at the base of the thumb from the side(but not when I press it from the back of my hand), and also when I curl the thumb inwards into my palm(eg doing a hook grip on a barbell). In fact, the injury happened when I was using the hook grip when performing heavy dumbbell rows. Since then it hasn't healed despite stopping all activity that causes pain. I still do barbell/dumbbell work, but either use conventional grip, which causes no pain, or only hook on lighter sets, which is also ok.

It seems that the bony protrusion at the base of my thumb is also slightly swollen when compared to my left thumb.

What can I do to rehab this? I thought it was perhaps just a sprain but that seems to happen when the thumb is extended back rather than inwards like my case. Seems like perhaps my thumb was being pulled excessively while using the hook grip?

That first CMC joint is prone to injury.
Ice should help.
Splinting should help.

I'd see a good hand therapist if it were me.
