Default Ankle

I am posting this for my husband who has ongoing ankle problems. Maybe someone has an idea what that could be?

It hurts when he walks, on the anterior right by the top of the foot.
It comes and goes. He does not remember hurting. When he rotates, the bottom part of his ankle bone pops, but it does not hurt. He has full ROM, no swelling. It hurts when he walks, on the anterior right by the top of the foot. It hurts when he gets back on it after longer rest periods, like in the morning, so he has to "break it in".

Thanks much!

Could be a few things ... has he had it looked at in person by a qualified professional?

Well, he finally had it looked at...Osteochondral Lesion aka a hole in the ankle cartilage in a difficult to access spot. It needs to be scoped.
Any advice re: prep for surgery and recovery? I wondered if strength training now would help with recovery and minimize muscle loss?

That's a good question for the doctor. If your husband can strengthen muscles without doing more damage to the ankle, probably yes.
