Default Forearms Hurt

I was wondering if it was possible to get something similar to shin splints in your forearms? The place it hurts is between the elbow and the wrist on the outside bone. It hurts when I'm doing heavy pressing and if I feel around I can find spots to press on and make it hurt. The heavy pressing makes it hurt a lot more than simply pressing on the bone. I'm guessing RICE would probably fix it, so this is more of an 'I'm curious' question. Thanks!

I used to get these all the time (if were talking about the same thing). Mine would be a pain, and also a weakness in the forearm, my greatest pain would come from doing pressing or bb curls. Unfortunately I don't have an answer on how to fix it, I got rid of mine with just taking a week or 10 days off from lifting. I tend to get this pain when I'm doing total body training and high volume and heavy weights, where im hitting the upper body 3 times per week.

Sounds like it could be the same thing. My weight workout volume has been pretty high along with MMA training a couple times/week. I probably just need a real rest from everything soon

It got to a point last year where when i got home after a workout and lifted a glass of water to my mouth i got this weird sensation in my forearm where i couldn't even really lift the glass anymore.

I seem to get this problem when i do CW's Waterbury Method, where it starts off with 10 heavy sets of 3 then 4 sets of 6 for 4 additional exercises. By the time I get to the 3rd week I start to get these problems. I remember last year being pretty upset because it seemed every time I went heavy I would get these pains in my forearms and would have to take time off. I thought I would never be able to go really heavy anymore...but I think it was just the volume that was doing it.

Right now im doing EC's Max Strength where its 2 lower and 2 upper body days per week. The daily volume is lower for sure and I haven't felt any forearm pain/weakness in a little while.

Good luck.

I think mine was different - I get really sore wrist extensors. In my case - stop training, stop poking around, let it heal and go back to training.

I get the same thing..when my training volume is high (judo + lifting) my forearms and elbows start to get sore. This is especially true from high volume gi-pulling drills, pull/chinups, breakfalls and arm bars.

Just cut down on the volume and you'll probably be fine.

I'll just take a rest then. Shouldn't be too hard since I have a lot of school work to finish up and am going out of town for Thanksgiving.

Thanks!

So, no MMA this week and I cut down my weight workouts to 3 times. Pain is already mostly gone. I'll avoid heavy pressing next week and I should be all healed up. Thanks!

Sounds like we have the same thing, glad rest is making it better. Just keep an eye on your training volume, especially pressing. I know I tend to sneak in an extra few sets sometimes, but all it ends up doing is getting myself injured.
