Julie its a very mild pain but I just know anytime any type of joint is hurting it is not a good sign and should you continue doing things you notice hurt it that it could lead to a sharp pain which could lead to a bigger problem.
It only hurts a little riding the bike kind of at the top on my way back around through. I think it is from keeping my legs to straight and not pedaling with a smooth motion and kind of cocking and stoping at the top instead of going a nice smooth stroke all the way through.
Keep in mind though I am still a relative on a new program, I have just progressed from single legged squats to split squats.
Are there any key things to remember concering the knee any either of those movements? I do not really feel any knee pain when performing either exercise maybe a little cliche feeling but nothing really painful or hurting.
When you do a single leg romanian deadlift do you need to have a slight bend in the knee of the planted leg?

Could be something as easy as trigger points in the glute medius referring pain down to the knee.

With single leg squats and split squats, focus on squeezing the glute ... that helps take the pressure off you knee.

Yes, with RDLs do not lock the knee out, rather keep it unlocked which will give it a very slight bend.
