Since his advice helped so much with a hip issue I had awhile back, I thought I'd throw this by Bill (or anyone else that may have knowledge on this particular issue).
Have had it on and off for a few years. Never seems to completely go away, even after no training, pressing, or shoulder work.
2. What were you doing at the time? Or did the pain come on gradually over time?
Usually presents itself when under weight e.g. bench pressing.
3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?
Posteriorly on the delt mostly. Feels deep and inbetween the medial delt and rear delt.
4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting?
Sharp pain during band or db ext. rot exercises or pressing, especially if the arms are flared out to the side.
5. Is the pain constant, or intermittent, or only on certain motions?
Only seems to hurt during the exercises or certain movements involving ext. rot.
6. What motions make your pain worse?
Heavy pressing. Also discomfort with the empty can test and external rotation.
7. What, if anything, makes your pain better?
Not bad if I’m not lifting. However, I’m a competitive powerlifter.
8. Does your pain radiate to any other part of your body?
No
9. What things could you do before, that you cannot do now because of your injury?
Bench heavy, overhead lifts, shoulder work.
10. What is your main concern regarding the pain and its consequences?
I can’t compete in the bench portion of powerlifting. Even a bench shirt doesn’t help much.
11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?
Long time ago, I believe from benching or overhead lifts.
12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period?
It seems a little sharper now when it happens. About ditched a bar on my head at the last meet Saturday. Thank goodness for spotters
