About two weeks ago in the gym I noticed a pain in my hand when gripping the barbell. It lies between my first and second knuckle of my right hand. It only hurts when I have a tight grip on something. Or...when I have to open something. I was opening some salsa this morning to put on my eggs and when I started to twist it actually made my eyes water.
My wife says she has done this before and it is from opening all the gatorade bottles we have to open all the time as they can be difficult form time to time and we do it several times a day.(Gatorade is a staple for us and is used as a treatment to stall my son's migraines)
I am starting Max Strength this week and am too dumb to sit out since I have been out a couple weeks already due to travel. But any ideas other than soem ice and rest?

A mess? My hand hurts. I think I might live through it.

Sorry I was just kidding. I just seem to remember your posts about ankle, foot, neck and wrist pains as well. Sometimes I wonder if the healthiest among us aren't people who haven't played sports and worked out all their lives. They're the people who can start running marathons in their 40's because they didn't bang up their knees playing football or get stress fractures from basketball.

I think you are right. But I also don't think I have many more issues than other guys my age. I just have an outlet to share them and ask questions. And mine are not related to my big fat patooty. But I am sure playing sports my whole life has left me with some side effects. After all..I do have diagnosed arthiritis. And yes, I got a second and third oipionion. Of course I have also been struck by vehicles twice. That is always going to leave a mark.

Mom always told me to look both ways.

Not much of a hand expert, but any chance it could be muscular? Sometimes the intrinsic muscles can get tight/overworked. Try this stretch ...
Start with your wrist straight and fingers straight, then bend your fingers so that the pads of the tips of your fingers touch the pads under your knuckes (your wrist will still be straight). With the other hand, apply pressure backwards (away from your palm) so that you are bending your knuckles and wrist backwards. Hold for 1 minute. (you typically won't feel the stretch until you've been holding for a bit).
Not sure if I described that adequately. I couldn't find a photo. If you need one, let me know and I'll snap one and post.

Thanks. I will give it a shot.
