Default Ankles and early mornings.

Over the last 5 years I have been diagnosed with Arthritis in my wrists. I have chalked it up to the several breaks I have suffered over the years and have only noticed the pain in my wrists. With supplements, glucosamine, it is better.
But this past years I have realized that when I wake up in the middle of the night and first thing in the morings my ankles are very stiff, tight and almost painful. My first steps each morning are done very gingerly and it takes a bit for them to loosen up and allow me to walk normal.
Any ideas? Do others in their late 30's experience this?

I had similar issues with my feet, especially after playing basketball, at about your age. Coincidentally, when I started talking high potency fish oil supplements the morning pain went away. Studies show that Omega 3s are a very good inflammation reducer.

I take a couple fish oil caps a day. I was thinking already I needed to up the dosage of what I take.

I had the same thing ... two things have helped.

1. It went away mostly when I stopped eating gluten. I have found that joint pain is actually a rather common symptom of gluten intolerance.

2. Now when I'm sore, I get out my lacrosse ball and roll the behoozies out of my calves and feet.

I get ALOT of snap, crackle and pop in the ankles when I get up either from bed or from prolonged sitting but no real pain. I have lots of ankle stiffness issues from many injuries so that's an almost constant companion.

Sorry about the hyjack, but I strongly concur with point #2!

My left knee and my right foot has been stiff in the morning. I've been focusing on rolling the quads and IT band. Granted, the quads are tight, but I'm starting to think they're not the culprit. I've been using a tennis ball on the bottom of the feet, but have had little results. I found a really hard ball in my house that's about the size of a tennis ball. A few days ago, I started to roll my feet and calves with that ball. What a difference! I turns out the tennis ball wasn't doing anything. There's a sudden relief of stiffness after a few minutes with this harder ball.
