Default Hip Socket pain

Guys,

I was working high kicks in MMA recently and I must have injured my hip socket. Any motion where my leg is not straight under me causes pain in the joint.

I am thinking to try heat therapy in the sauna. Is anyone aware of any supplements that actually help with joint pain?

Thanks guys,

1. When did the pain begin?
About a week ago, and gradually got worse.

3. Where, anatomically, is the pain?

At the side, where the leg meets the body.

4. What does the pain feel like? Sharp? Dull? Aching? Stabbing? Shooting?

Dull with increased sharpness while in motion.

6. What motions make your pain worse?

The more the leg is at an angle to the side of the body, the sharper the pain. Any kind of twisting of the leg increases the pain. Position where I put my foot on the other leg's knee causes most pain.

11. Have you ever injured that part of your body before? If so, how?

No.

12. Is your pain getting worse over time? And if so, how much worse over what time period?

Over a week it became considerably worse. I believe the initial slight discomfort gradually was exacerbated through sex and running.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Could be a number of things ... trochanteric bursitis, strained gluteal muscles, referred from your back.

Please post a photo of the location of the pain.

Is it tender to pressure over the outside of your hip/upper thigh on the bone (greater trochanter)? Or is it more toward the back in your butt?
