Default Tennis Elbow

I've been diagnosed with tennis elbow, although the doc didn't seem 100% sure. I've been give a stretch and told to lay off. That was about 4 months ago and it still hurts.

I've had a twinge in my right elbow for years - especially if I tried any triceps cable pushdowns. Before it got really bad I was doing a pretty intensive pullup/chinup programme - that is what set it off.

Now just using my mouse or keyboard hurts and I'm scared to do any exercise involving my arm, which is most upper body exercises obviously.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

You are probably loaded with trigger points. Have you seen a therapist or ART practitioner?

I've not but then I'm skint so ideally trying to sort it out on the NHS or myself.

I tried the stretches and exercises recommended on another thread here. I've found that when I reverse curls, even with a light weight, my wrist "pops" painfully. I think I can see whatever is popping on the top of the wrist (palm facing down) on the right side. My forearm muscles are sore too.

You could have some instability in that radiohumeral joint which would explain the triceps pushdown thing and the chronic lateral epicondylitis. Try some trigger point stuff. You can get Amazon.com: The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook: Your Self-Treatment Guide for Pain Relief, Second Edition: Clair Davies, Amber Davies, David G. Simons: Books pretty cheaply. Here in the states (I'm assuming you are UK) most bookstores carry it. Ice it, keep stretching, and start some gentle strengthening. Start with no weight, wrist extension, flexion, radial and ulnar deviations. Then add weight slowly, like 1# every few weeks. You need to avoid aggravating it but get things stronger to minimize the instability.

Many thanks, I'll try that.

How would that relate to the wrist popping on loaded wrist extensions?

Out of interest, I have a Powerball someone bought me for xmas. Would that be of any use in rehabilitating this?

Wrist popping could be many things ... I'd need to see it to know exactly what it is. Sounds like a tendon sliding over a bony prominence ... if it doesn't hurt, it is nothing to worry about generally ...

To me Powerball is a lottery!! Please link so I know what it is!!

No idea if it would help ... you could try it and see if it makes it better or worse. Looks pretty cool.
